Chris Janelle’s Leadership Expands as Senior Associate Dean

January 23, 2024

Congratulations to Christopher Janelle, Ph.D., professor in applied physiology and kinesiology, on his promotion to senior associate dean for academic affairs at the UF College of Health & Human Performance. Michael Reid, Ph.D., dean, recently announced Dr. Janelle’s promotion.

“The promotion to senior associate dean acknowledges the trust that Chris has earned among our faculty, staff and leadership,” said Reid. “It recognizes his decade-long record of distinguished administrative service. And it is made possible by the universal respect that he enjoys across campus.”

In addition to assuming broader leadership responsibilities across the college, Janelle will represent the college in the dean’s absence.

Dr. Janelle oversees academic and student affairs, including assessment and student services, career development and global engagement, enrollment management, and online and distance education.

In the fall of 2023, enrollment for the college reached a record high of 3,000 students, up from 1,955 students in 2013. During this time, online enrollment has surged and the college now offers 23 degree programs and certificates across its four departments.

In addition to his role within the college, Janelle also serves as the faculty athletic representative, representing faculty at the institution to the NCAA and Southeastern Conference.
