Dr. Leeman and his team of researchers are focused on research relevant to addiction, sexual health behavior and related conditions. The lab's broad scope includes research to learn more about risk factors and mechanisms underlying addictive and sexual health behaviors along with developing and testing new interventions, particularly technology-based interventions, specifically on the adolescent and young adult population.

The lab, located in Yon Hall, has been in place since 2015 and includes graduate students, staff and undergraduate research assistants. During the course of a semester, 24 people work in the lab.

Recent articles from the lab have appeared in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology; Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs; Alcohol and Alcoholism; and Current Addiction Reports.

Funding support comes from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), ABMRF/The Foundation for Alcohol Research, and UF/the State of Florida. Additional funding and support is provided by Mary F. Lane, an HHP alumnae, and her husband Chip Lane, who is also a UF alumnus, through the establishment of an endowed professorship.
