Q&A

Why did you choose to enroll at UF?

It is the highest-ranking school in the state of Florida, and it has one of the highest percentages of students who find jobs after graduation. I have always loved UF since 9th grade in high school.

Why did you choose to major in HHP?

I am pre-law and in law school, I want to go into entertainment/sports law. I have lived most of my life as an athlete and a sibling to athletes. Athletics have been a passion of mine and I hope that through HHP I can learn more about the sports industry and find my path in it.

What do you enjoy most about being a student at UF?

The opportunities and top-quality education. At UF I have had so many opportunities to work with people in sports programs and get advice from panels of people in the field that I want to enter and connect with them on LinkedIn. I also have learned so much in my short time as a transfer student. My educators are very well-versed in their subjects and most of them truly have a skill for imparting that knowledge.

What has made your student experience unique?

In the middle of my semester, I unexpectedly got pregnant and was already enrolled in 5 courses. I was working at UF Recsports already and was about to start another job in student government at UF when I found out. From the Recsports staff, my advisor, and U Matter We Care, I received so much support. I thought I would've had to drop all my classes or even leave UF but with all the support and help I received I was able to finish 3/5 of those courses and still be able to continue at UF even after having my child. I gained so much from that experience and the resources I received from U Matter, We Care enabled me to find scholarships and things to help me financially. My UF experience has been so special and unique so far. I'm excited to see what else I will accomplish and experience.

What are your post-graduation plans?

After graduation, I hope to go to find a job working in the sports industry, whether that be in event management or working with athletes. I'm not 100% sure but I will definitely be continuing in athletics. I will also be heading directly into Law school to pursue my JD while trying to build programs that can help my community and young single mothers like myself.

What academic/professional accomplishments do you wish to share?

In my previous college, I graduated with an honors diploma in humanities and completed over 100—hours of community service. I received a Gold medallion for my benefit and the research work I performed in my final year at the college.
