Q&A

Why did you choose to enroll at UF?

My love for UF branched from my admiration towards my sister. Throughout high school I knew I wanted to have the honor of getting accepted and enrolling in what is now a top 5 school, and seeing how hard my sister worked, and her success later on, made me want to follow in her footsteps. I later learned more about the school and saw just what it would mean to be a Florida Gator and I wanted every single part of it.

Why did you choose to major in HHP?

While at UCF, I switched my major from Health Sciences to Kinesiology. This switch was brought on by my piqued interests in the courses offered in an exercise science track in comparison to the courses I would have taken otherwise. Here at UF, similar classes were offered in HHP under the Applied Physiology and Kinesiology major.

What do you enjoy most about being a student at UF?

When comparing my life at UF to my life at UCF, I take into account both the academic shift and the social aspect of my days here. Academically, the rigor of classes here falls in line with what you would expect from a higher ranked school, so I definitely felt that change drastically in my first semester. Socially, I have found wonderful people that are now my home away from home and I don't know what I would be doing without their support. So I would say, what I enjoy most about being at UF is seeing who I have become in comparison to my freshman year self, my department and the school breeds growth.

What has made your student experience unique?

I would say my experience as a student is unique due to the relationships and opportunities I have with the faculty and staff of HHP. I have been lucky enough to have wonderful professors who are always willing to help me whether it be with questions I have about the class, or advice on decisions for my future. I have never had to look far for help and I love that relationship I have with our faculty. Along with this, I have worked in an office for the Department of Health Education and Behavior for a year now and I must say, we really just have the most amazing staff as well. Kindness is not hard to come by in the Florida Gym.

What are your post-graduation plans?

Originally, my goals were to go to a Master’s program for Athletic Training and hope to work in either college or professional sports. In the last year, I have steered away from this but am still considering graduate programs in the same field. This Fall, I began working in the Performance Psychology Lab with hopes to get a better taste of what research really entails and hoping this is a new path I could take.
