Online Bachelor’s Degree Programs Rise to #3 in the Nation

January 26, 2021

UF Online rose to the No. 3 spot in the 2021 rankings by U.S. News & World Report for the best online programs in the country, up from No. 4 in 2020. This ranking includes the College of Health & Human Performance (HHP) online bachelor degrees in Health Education and Behavior; Sport Management; and Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management.

The recent rankings continue the university’s overall rise on the national stage. In September, UF was ranked as No. 6 among public universities.

In addition to the overall ranking, the University of Florida retained its ranking at No. 2 for the second year in a row for Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans.

For more than 10 years, HHP continues to be a pioneer of online education. This year, the new Bachelor of Science in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management online program launched. Partnerships, such as The Walt Disney Company and WTA (Women’s Tennis Association), have increased access to education for their employees and members. Additionally, HHP offers online master’s degrees in each of its four departments. Over the last year, the online master’s degree programs have grown in enrollment by 155 percent.

In fall 2020, nearly 800 students were enrolled in an online bachelor’s and master’s degree program which makes up 30 percent of total enrollment in HHP.

“We could not have accomplished this rise without the hard work and dedication from the faculty and staff and the commitment from our students,” said Michael Reid, dean. “These programs have allowed us to expand access to students across the state and around the world.”

The rise in the rankings can be attributed to several factors, such as having high marks in categories including quality of faculty, affordable tuition, retention rates and technologies available to students.
