This summer, Michael Reid, Ph.D., dean, announced two updates within the leadership of the College of Health & Human Performance.

As of July 1, Elisabeth Barton, Ph.D., acting associate dean for faculty and staff affairs and professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology (APK), has accepted the role of associate dean for faculty and staff affairs.

Dr. Barton is a NIH-funded scientist and committed educator who brings a wealth of administrative experience to the task including her current service and previous roles as vice chair for APK and director of the Center for Exercise Science.

“I am delighted to support the committee’s recommendation,” said Reid. ”I also want to thank the candidates, the search committee and Dr. Jim Cauraugh who led the search process.”

At the end of June, Kyriaki Kaplanidou, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Sport Management, will complete her service as assistant dean for faculty affairs.

In her role, Dr. Kaplanidou managed a diverse portfolio of duties including the tenure and promotion process, award nominations and facilities and maintenance.

“Dr. Kaplanidou has been an effective leader and tireless supporter of our faculty and staff,” said Reid. “We will miss her energy and positive attitude on the HHP leadership team but wish her every success in her new endeavors.”
