EFTI has established numerous small grants and scholarships for students and faculty members to enhance tourism initiatives in the Institute as well as in the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management. Request for applications along with the criteria for funding and associated deadlines are periodically announced by the EFTI. Currently, the following funding programs are offered and only students and faculty in the department are eligible to apply:
One annual award for faculty of all ranks seeking seed money funds for a tourism related project. Proposals are judged on their merit to generate new knowledge in tourism, and also the potential to generate external research funds. Offered once a year.
Multiple awards for Doctoral students to conduct tourism-related research. Students may only apply for this funding once during their doctoral degree program. The funding may be matched by the Chair in the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management. Offered in the fall and spring semesters.
Multiple awards for Master’s students to conduct tourism-related research. Students may only apply for this funding once during their Master’s degree program. The funding may be matched by the Chair in the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management. Offered in the fall and spring semesters.
Undergraduate Student Scholarship and Graduate Student Scholarship
Each scholarship and applications will be solicited and reviewed as part of the College of Health & Human Performance (CHHP) annual scholarship program. Scholarships will be awarded at the CHHP Scholarship Awards Luncheon. Offered once a year.
The grants and scholarships are available largely due to the generosity of several individuals that have created endowments. In addition, the income from the endowments also provides valuable resources for numerous other programs to support research, education and training as well as general operations. Currently, the following endowments have provided the financial resources and EFTI is enormously appreciative of our benefactors:
The grants and scholarship program is extremely beneficial for faculty and students. If you are interested to support tourism-related research, education and training, an excellent opportunity exists to financially support this program with an endowment.
