TRSM Transfer Admission Requirements

The Department of Tourism, Recreation & Sport Management focuses on the role and impact of leisure services, including tourism and sports, on individuals, society and the environment.  The curriculum in Tourism, Recreation & Sport Management is accredited by the Council of Accreditation sponsored by the National Recreation and Park Association and the American Association of Leisure Recreation.
The Department of Tourism, Recreation & Sport Management offers two Bachelor of Science programs: Recreation, Parks & Tourism (REC) and Sport Management (SPM).  The major of Recreation, Parks & Tourism has 4 different curriculums, or specializations.  Depending on their academic interests, career goals and academic capabilities, REC majors select one of the following specializations: Recreation Programming, Recreation & Event Management, Tourism & Hospitality Management and Natural Resources Recreation Management.

Transfer admission is competitive in the College of Health & Human Performance with only a handful of transfer admission spaces allotted to the Department of Tourism, Recreation & Sport Management.  For example, twelve transfer students will be admitted to the SPM program for the fall 2008 and spring 2009 academic year combined.  To be considered for transfer admission, both programs require a 2.0 minimum overall gpa, as well as a minimum gpa in the required prerequisites.  However, in reality, the average overall gpa of those admitted is a 3.2 or higher.

Florida community college applicants to the College of Health and Human Performance must complete an Associate of Arts degree and meet all university and college-specific requirements. Admission evaluation factors include academic record, cumulative grade point average, performance in critical-tracking courses, extent to which the applicant exceeds minimum requirements, and achievements and career goals as stated in the letter of intent. The admission review process is a holistic review of the applicant’s overall record and potential in the chosen academic field. Students who complete pre-professional courses outside the state system (students who attend out-of-state, private and/or international institutions) must submit course descriptions to the department advisor.

In addition to the UF Transfer Application, applicants must also complete the College of Health and Human Performance's Letter of Intent (http://www.hhp.ufl.edu/geth/AcademicAdvising/forms/LOI.pdf).  Transfer admission is limited and extremely competitive. Priority will be given to applicants who have completed an AA degree from a Florida Community College, per the State of Florida Articulation Agreement.
