Admission Requirements
Admission to graduate study in the department requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade average of B for all upper-division undergraduate work, and satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Sport Management, non-thesis master's students may submit satisfactory GMAT scores in lieu of GRE scores. Also, students applying to joint degree programs with the Warrington College of Business Administration or College of Law must also post satisfactory scores on the GMAT or LSAT.

Students from countries where English is not the primary language are also required to score a minimum of 550 (213 computer-based; 80 internet version) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). International students whose native tongue is English or who have studied at a United States college or university for one year or more need not submit TOEFL scores but must submit satisfactory scores on the GRE before their applications for admission can be considered.
Applications will be accepted year round, but, those who are applying for Department Financial Assistance (Assistantships or Fellowships) must submit their applications by the following dates:
Fall Admission: Apply by February 1
Spring Admission: Apply by October 1Late Applications may be considered.
Direct acceptance to the department is dependent upon: • GRE Score: All sections (verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing) are evaluated. •Letters of recommendation (At least two must be from academic sources, i.e. professors). •The applicant’s statement of purpose for applying to the department. •For those applying for the Ph.D., please examine the research areas of the faculty to determine which area is of the most interest to you. Once you have determined this, contact that faculty member directly to discuss the possibility of becoming his or her Ph.D. student. •Availability of a faculty advisor •Teaching, research and other department needs in cases where departmental financial supported is requested.

Each application is reviewed by a faculty committee specializing in the applicant’s declared area of interest (based on the letter of intent). A student’s file must be complete before it is reviewed by the specialization committee.
