HHP HOSTS STUDENT AND FACULTY MEET AND GREET | 03/18

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The 2005 Student and Faculty Meet and Greet sponsored by the College of Health and Human Performance’s College Council on Thurs., March 17 was a great success.

“The purpose of this event was to give students an opportunity to mingle with faculty members in a relaxed environment,” said Brittany Heidrich, member-at-large of the College Council and undergraduate student in the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management. “It went better than we could have hoped.”

Faculty members from all departments enjoyed the morning, conversing with students over refreshments including green cupcakes in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

“The meet and greet was a great opportunity to interact with our students outside the formal classroom setting,” said Dr. Mark Tillman, assistant professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology.

Dr. Robert Weiler, associate professor in the Department of Health Education and Behavior, also felt that the event was beneficial.

"The event gave me an opportunity to meet students in programs across the College,” Weiler said. “I always find it interesting to learn about the backgrounds of our students and what they plan to do upon graduation."

Judy Traveis, director of Undergraduate Student Affairs said the College Council did an outstanding job organizing the event.

“This year the College of Health and Human Performance has a phenomenal board and some extraordinary members that go above and beyond,” Traveis said. “I was delighted to see the turn out of the faculty and students at this event. It was a great success.”

Students also appreciated the chance to meet and network with the faculty of HHP.

“It was nice to interact with our professors in a setting outside of the classroom,” said Charis Brown, graduate student in the Department of Health Education and Behavior.
