HEB Change of Major Admission Information

The Department of Health Education and Behavior, with a foundation in the social and biological sciences, focuses on health information and theory application. Students learn techniques to promote healthy lifestyle choices in individual and group settings, with special attention given to diversity and culturally appropriate health education methodologies. Sites for research, student experience and employment include public health agencies, governmental health departments, non-profit organizations, fitness/wellness facilities, hospital wellness programs, employee wellness programs and educational institutions.  The undergraduate curriculum also provides an excellent foundation for several graduate programs in similar fields. (See Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Behavior website)

The Department of Health Education and Behavior offers one major, Health Education and Behavior (BSHE). The major of Health Education and Behavior has three different curriculums, or specializations. Depending upon their academic interests, career goals, and academic capabilities, HEB majors select the community health education, health promotion, or health studies specialization when completing the BSHE degree.
