PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The 30-credit, Non-Thesis Option in the Master of Science in Health Education & Behavior degree program was designed for students seeking an advanced practitioner's degree. A distinctive feature of this option allows you to choose a minimum of 15 credits of elective coursework that matches your personal and professional interests, and you can plan a program that achieves your goals. The degree prepares health education specialists to work in local, state, and federal health agencies, voluntary health organizations, patient care settings, and private industry. The degree also can assist students seeking a competitive edge when applying to graduate and professional schools, particularly in the health professions. Full-time students can complete this M.S. option in one year.

NOTE: 1000-4000 level courses within the department and 1000-2000 level courses outside the department are not eligible to count toward the graduate degree requirements.
COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAMINATION
Prior to graduating, each student must complete a written final examination administered by their supervisory committee chair to show proficiency in their area of concentration.
PREREQUISITE COURSEWORK
The department typically expects incoming M.S. students to have completed coursework in health content (such as a personal and family health course), methods of instruction (such as a methods and materials course), and human biology (such as anatomy and physiology or medical terminology). The department prescribes pre-requisite coursework based on the applicant's academic preparation, professional experience, and professional goals. The letter of acceptance specifies requirements for pre-requisite coursework, if any. Students may take pre-requisite coursework concurrently at any time during their M.S. program.
