Deadlines for M.S. Program
| Required Document | More Information |
| Applying online saves time in processing your application. You do not need to send a copy of your application to the Department office. | |
| This is usually a one-paged document explaining your areas of professional interest, and reasons for pursuing a graduate degree. | |
| Submit your current resume describing your education and employment history. | |
| One example of a single-authored work, such as a published article, conference presentation, course term paper, or other original work. |
|
| You must have a minimum score of 1,000 on the combined Verbal and Quantitative portions of the GRE. These scores must be current within the last five years. Each applicant is responsible for submitting a copy of the official score report to the Department office. This can be a faxed or xeroxed copy. At the request of applicants, ETS sends official score reports directly to the Graduate Admissions Office at the University. The Graduate Admissions Office does not forward those scores on to the Department office. Requests to consider GRE scores below 1,000 due to special circumstances require documentation of factors supporting the request. |
|
| International Students must submit a minimum score of 213 or 550 on the TOEFL. | |
| You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA for all upper-division undergraduate coursework. | |
| An official copy of your transcripts for all previous college coursework must be submitted to both the Graduate Admissions Office and the Department Office. | |
Letters of Recommendation |
Three letters of recommendation from faculty members including at least one letter from a faculty member at the last institution attended. The Department of Health Education & Behavior also accepts letters of recommendation available through the online Graduate Admissions application. |
Pre-Requisite Coursework for M.S. Program
The department typically expects incoming M.S. students to have completed coursework in health content (such as a personal and family health course), methods of instruction (such as a methods and materials course), and human biology (such as anatomy and physiology or medical terminology). The department prescribes pre-requisite coursework based on the applicant's academic preparation, professional experience, and professional goals. The letter of acceptance specifies requirements for pre-requisite coursework, if any. Students may take pre-requisite coursework concurrently at any time during their M.S. program.
