Contribute to an existing fund
Dean’s Enrichment Fund
This fund supports a variety of initiatives such as academic programs, research and alumni programming.
Departments
Giving to the departments of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, Health Education and Behavior or Tourism, Recreation =and Sport Management will help support the department’s mission. Funds can assist with academic programs and equipment needed as well as helping with research endeavors.
Research Centers
Giving to HHP’s research centers—Addictive and Health Behaviors Research Institute, Center for Exercise Science, Center for Tourism Research and Development or Florida Center for Health Promotion. Will help them fulfill their mission of solving some of society’s greatest problems.
Joyce Pokorny Memorial Fund
This fund was established in memoriam of a HHP professor’s wife, who passed away from a heart attack at age 43. The Joyce Pokorny Memorial Fund relies on monetary contributions and in-kind gifts to fulfill its mission of empowering and educating women about the symptoms and warning signs of heart disease. The goal is for all women to be proactive about their heart health and take steps to prevent heart disease.
Dr. Linda Thornton Endowment
The Dr. Linda Thornton Endowment was established by Thornton’s former students. In addition to naming a classroom in honor of Thornton, the fund will provide scholarships for students who are majoring in recreation.
Endowed Gifts
You can create a permanent fund for a specific purpose at HHP. Your fund will be invested and managed by the University of Florida Foundation to provide a steady and reliable income stream forever. Endowments may be named to honor you or some other appropriate person.
The minimum amount required to create an endowment is $30,000. Each may take advantage of the State of Florida's matching gift program to reach the minimum required. Your employer may match your gift. Here are a few endowment options at HHP:
Deanship
A permanently funded dean position.
Scholarships or Fellowships:
A privately endowed scholarship or fellowship is awarded on need or merit to a HHP student year after year.
Professorships
A permanently funded faculty position requires an endowment of at least $600,000, depending upon the area of expertise.
Programs
A permanent fund to sponsor teaching, research and student support in one of HHP’s department, programs or lecture series.
