Greetings. As Associate Dean of Academic Affairs of the College of Health and Human Performance, I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning students.
The University of Florida has begun to implement the Academic Learning Compacts (ALCs) for all undergraduate majors in the Fall of 2006. ALCs are agreements that describe the communication skills, critical thinking skills, and content knowledge in a specific major (known collectively as Student Learning Outcomes) that students should acquire if they diligently follow the prescribed course of study. The College is required to assess student achievement in these Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) through Individual Students Assessments (ISAs). Satisfactory completion of ISAs constitutes successful completion of the Academic Learning Compact. Each department in the College has formulated a set of Student Learning Outcomes and Individual Student Assessments suitable for their majors and posted on department webpage. Please visit the department website and become familiar with these SLOs and ISAs. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
We invite you to visit the Office of Student Affairs in Room 200, Florida Gym. The office is open to all students who have a need for advising. Our new on-line appointment scheduling provides a quick and easy way to see our advisors. Our professional staff will always direct you to the best source for any problem you may have.
We would also like to extend an invitation to you to attend the Welcome Back program in the Florida Gym. There will be experienced representatives from all over campus to provide information on all phases of campus life – including undergraduate and graduate majors, clubs and organizations, career resources, pre-Health and pre-Law advisement, the International Center & Study Abroad programs to enhance your knowledge about educational, professional, and recreational opportunities available to students at UF.
All of us at the College of Health & Human Performance, Office of Student Affairs, look forward to meeting and serving you in your academic pursuit.
Dr. Kelli Brown
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
