Biography:

Since 2007, Elaine McLaughlin has been the director of strategic operations for the Tourism Crisis Management Institute. As director, McLaughlin is responsible for project fulfillment, strategic planning for the Center, industry liaison, budget management, grant proposals, survey design, data analysis, report preparation, client communications and other duties as assigned. McLaughlin received her MPA from West Virginia University in 1980 and her CDME from the University of Calgary and Purdue University in 1992. Prior to coming to UF, McLaughlin was the executive director for Lee County Florida Visitor and Convention Bureau in Fort Myers, Fla. from 1989-2000. She was the president of McLaughlin Tourism Management Bokeelia, Fla. from 2000-2007. McLaughlin also was a visiting professor at Florida Gulf Coast University from 2004-2006.
