Biography:

Chris Hass, Ph.D,  is an assistant professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Florida. Prior to returning to UF, he held academic positions at Columbia University and Georgia Institute of Technology. Currently, he conducts research and teaches in the areas of biomechanics and motor control.

Hass’s research is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health and Autism Speaks. He also collaborates on funded projects from the Michael J. Fox Foundation and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Hass is an executive board member of the Biomechanics Interest Group within the American College of Sports Medicine and serves as an external reviewer for numerous scientific journals. He has received several teaching and research awards.

Research Interests:

  • • Interactions between musculoskeletal biomechanics and sensorimotor control of lower extremity function with particular emphasis on the coordination of locomotion and balance.
  • • The efficacy of intervention programs for improving quality of life, neuromechanical control, and disease progression in Parkinson’s disease.
  • • Dynamic stability during locomotor transitions in the elderly and PD.
