Biography:
David Criswell’s, Ph.D., career success is a testament to the superior education provided by the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology provides. Criswell received both his master’s degree and doctoral degree in exercise physiology from APK. He then took the position of post-doctoral fellow at the University of Texas Medical School and continued his research in molecular biology and skeletal muscle adaptation to disuse. After his three years at UT, Criswell joined the faculty at Texas Women’s University as assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology. In 2001, Criswell returned to his alma mater to become assistant professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology.
Criswell recently was awarded a Scientist Development Grant from the National American Heart Association to study the mechanisms behind exercise-induced improvements in skeletal muscle metabolic control. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed research articles. Criswell has presented his research at numerous professional conferences including, the American College of Sports Medicine, Experimental Biology and the American Heart Association national meetings. Additionally, Criswell lends his expertise to four professional journals, serving as reviewer.
