Biography:
Shannon Kerwin (nee. Hamm), Ph. D. joined the Department of Tourism, Recreation, and Sport Management in the College of Health and Human Performance in the fall of 2010. Kerwin completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Canada where she worked as a research and teaching assistant in the areas of organizational behavior and organizational theory in sport management.

Dr. Kerwin’s research interest are broadly focused on management and leadership practices in both non-profit and intercollegiate sport settings; with a particular focus on group dynamics among paid staff and volunteer boards of directors. Her research and teaching pursuits have led her to seek membership in professional organizations such as the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and the Academy of Management where she is actively involved in a variety of capacities

Research Interests:

  • • Organizational behavior with a specific focus on management practices (e.g., management by values,
  • conflict management, and organizationsl justice isses)
  • • Gendered sport experiences
