GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The College of Health and Human Performance celebrated Mila Henderson’s 17 years as an adviser to students in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology July 30, at a reception in Ustler Hall. Henderson is leaving her job as adviser to become a student again at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Kelli Brown, associate dean of student affairs, said this is just another chapter in Henderson’s life.
“But if you know Mila, you know there’s been a lot of chapters,” she said.
Henderson’s chapters have ranged from time in the Peace Corps to teaching elementary students. But, she’s always felt the love and support of HHP faculty and staff along the way.
“You’ve been a great support to me over the years,” Henderson said. “Some of us grew up here together.”
Dean Steve Dorman praised her for her work at the College and described the high level of admiration and respect her colleagues have for her.
“You have given your best to our students,” he said. “You are going to be hard to replace.”
Even though Henderson is moving on to another phase of life becoming a veterinarian, she knows she continue to feel the support of HHP just like she always has.
“We’ll continue traveling together,” she said, “just down slightly different pathways.”
